Pomodoro Timer

Work in focused blocks with short breaks in between. The time left shows in the browser tab, and an optional sound or notification tells you when to switch.

SETTINGS

A new length applies straight away if the phase hasn't started yet, otherwise from the next phase.

Runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to a server.

How to use the Pomodoro timer

  1. Adjust the lengths

The classic setup is 25 minutes of focus, 5-minute breaks and a 15-minute break after four sessions. Change any of them in the settings.

  2. Start a focus session

Press Start and work on one task until the time is up. Pause if you're interrupted, or skip to the next phase.

  3. Take the break

When the time is up, the timer moves on to the break. Tick Start the next phase automatically to keep going without clicking.

What is the Pomodoro Technique?

It's a time management method from the late 1980s: you work in short, timed blocks and take a break after each one. A fixed end makes it easier to start, and regular breaks help you stay focused through the day.

Right even in a background tab

Browsers slow down timers in tabs you aren't looking at. This timer works from the moment the phase ends rather than counting seconds, so the time left is correct whenever you come back to the tab.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to allow notifications?

No. Notifications are optional, and your browser only asks for permission when you tick the box. Without them, the sound and the tab title still tell you when a phase ends.

Why is there no sound?

Make sure the sound box is ticked and the tab isn't muted. The chime is generated by your browser when a phase ends, so there is nothing to download.

Are my sessions saved?

No. The timer and its count of completed sessions start again when you close or reload the page.
