How to make a chart from CSV

  1. Paste or open the CSV

Use data with a header row, such as months and sales, or open a .csv file.

  2. Choose the chart

Pick a chart type, the column for labels and the column with the numbers.

  3. Download it

Download the chart as PNG for documents and slides, or SVG for sharp printing and editing.

Which chart to use

Bars compare amounts between categories, lines show how a value changes over time, and pies show how a total is divided. A pie works best with a handful of parts; small parts are grouped under Other.

Numbers in any format

Values such as 1,234.5, 1.234,5 and 12% are read as numbers, so data exported from spreadsheets in different languages works without cleaning.

Frequently asked questions

How many rows can I chart?

Line charts show up to 500 points and bar charts up to 50 categories, which is already more than a reader can take in. Filter or summarise larger files first.

Can I edit the colours or titles?

Not yet. For a fully styled chart, use Chart Maker, or edit the downloaded SVG in a design tool.

Is my data uploaded?

No. The chart is drawn in your browser.
