How to convert Word to HTML
Open the document
Drop a .docx file or choose one. Older .doc files need to be saved as .docx in Word first.
Choose the output
Get just the content for a website or an editor, or a complete HTML page. Turn images off if you only need the text.
Copy or download
Check the preview, then copy the code or download it as an .html file.
Clean HTML instead of Word's own
Word's “Save as web page” writes long, style-heavy code. This converter keeps the structure instead: headings become h1 to h6, bullet points become lists, tables stay tables, and bold and italic stay bold and italic. Fonts and exact spacing are left out, so the HTML takes on your website's look.
Which Word styles become what
Title and Heading 1 to 6 become headings, Quote becomes a blockquote, links stay links, and footnotes become a numbered list at the end with links back to the text. Paragraphs in other custom styles become plain paragraphs.
Frequently asked questions
Is my document uploaded?
No. It's converted in your browser and never leaves your device.
Where do the images go?
They're embedded in the HTML as data URLs, so the file works on its own. For a website you may prefer to turn images off and upload the pictures separately.
Why are my fonts and spacing gone?
That's deliberate: the HTML keeps the structure and leaves the look to your website's CSS. If you need the exact look of the page, save the document as a PDF instead.
