    How to calculate overtime pay

    1. Enter your pay

Choose hourly rate, monthly salary or annual salary. For a salary, enter the hours it covers so the tool can work out your hourly rate.

    2. Add overtime hours

Enter the hours for each rate. 150% is time and a half, 200% double time. Add lines for more rates.

    3. See the total

You see the hourly rate, the pay for each line and the overtime total. Add regular hours to see the whole gross pay.

    From salary to hourly rate

Overtime is usually paid per hour, so a salary is divided by the hours it covers. With 40 hours a week, a year has 2,080 hours (40 × 52) and a month about 173.3. Some countries and contracts use a fixed figure instead, such as 225 hours a month; enter whichever applies.

    Rate or premium?

A rate of 150% pays the normal hourly rate plus half. If your contract talks about a 50% premium on top of pay you already receive for those hours, enter 50%; if the hours aren't paid otherwise, enter 150%.
