Remove EXIF Data

Strip the hidden information in photos, such as GPS location, camera model and date, before you share them. The image itself isn't re-compressed, so quality stays exactly the same.

How to remove EXIF data

  1. Add your photos

Drop JPG, PNG or WebP files onto the input or use Open images.

  2. See what was found

Each result lists the metadata that was removed, such as the camera, the date and a GPS location.

  3. Download

Download the clean photos one by one or as a ZIP, then share them.

What photos give away

Phone photos usually record where and when they were taken, the device and its settings. Shared as files, by email or in chat apps that keep the original, that can reveal a home address or daily routine.

Lossless removal

Metadata blocks are cut out of the file and the image data is copied unchanged, so nothing is re-compressed. The colour profile and the rotation are kept so photos still look and turn the same.

Frequently asked questions

Which metadata is removed?

EXIF (including GPS), XMP, IPTC and comments in JPG files; text and EXIF chunks in PNG; EXIF and XMP in WebP. Only the colour profile and the rotation needed to display the photo correctly stay.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser, which matters especially for photos you want to keep private.

What about HEIC photos?

Convert them with HEIC to JPG first. The converted JPG contains no EXIF data.
