How to convert JPG to PNG

  1. Add JPG files

Drop one or more JPG images onto the input or use Open images.

  2. Wait a moment

Each image is converted as soon as it's added. The result shows its size.

  3. Download

Download each PNG or all of them as a ZIP.

Why convert to PNG

PNG doesn't lose detail when saved repeatedly, so it's a good working format for images you'll edit, annotate or place in documents. Some design and print workflows also prefer it.

Bigger files are normal

PNG stores every pixel exactly, so a PNG made from a photo is usually larger than the JPG. Converting doesn't bring back detail the JPG compression already removed.

Frequently asked questions

Will the PNG have a transparent background?

No. A JPG has no transparency, so the PNG keeps the same opaque pixels. To cut out the background, use Remove Background.

Why is the PNG larger than the JPG?

PNG is lossless and stores every pixel exactly; JPG saves space by discarding detail. That's expected.

Are my images uploaded?

No. The conversion happens in your browser.
