How to write meeting minutes

  1. Add the basics

Enter the title, date, time and place, who chaired the meeting, who took the minutes and who attended.

  2. Write up the meeting

Add an item per agenda point with what was discussed, then list the decisions and the action items with an owner and a due date.

  3. Share the minutes

Print them or save them as PDF, or copy the Markdown or plain text into an email, a wiki or a chat.

What good minutes record

Minutes don't need every word. Record who was there, what was decided and who does what by when. Action items with a named owner and a date are what make a meeting lead somewhere.

Markdown for wikis and chat

The Markdown version uses headings, lists and a table for the action items, which most wikis, code hosting sites and note apps show as formatted text.
