How to make a Gantt chart
Add your tasks
Enter a name, an optional group, a start date and either an end date or a number of days.
Pick the scale
Weeks show the detail of plans that run a few months; months give an overview of longer projects. A red line marks today.
Save and share
Download the chart as PNG or SVG, and the task list as CSV to open in a spreadsheet or load here again.
Dates and durations
Durations are calendar days and count both the start and the end day, so a task from Monday to Friday takes 5 days. Weekends and holidays are included, because they differ between countries and teams. Move the start date and the task keeps its length; change the days and the end date moves.
The CSV format
The CSV file has the columns task, group, start, end and days, with dates written as YYYY-MM-DD. When you import a file, the columns can be in any order, and either end or days is enough.
Frequently asked questions
Can I show dependencies or progress?
Not yet. The chart shows when each task happens and how tasks group into phases. For dependencies, order the tasks and start each one after the task it depends on.
Why do weeks start on Monday?
The week columns follow the ISO 8601 standard, in which weeks start on Monday. Task bars are placed on their exact days either way.
Is my plan uploaded?
No. Everything stays in your browser. Download the CSV to keep a copy.
