How to make an invoice
Add both parties
Enter your business details and your customer's. Tick the box to remember your own details on this device.
Add the items
Enter a description, quantity, unit price and tax rate for each line, plus a discount if you give one. The totals update as you type.
Print or save as PDF
Choose A4 or US Letter and click Print or save as PDF. In the print dialog, pick Save as PDF as the destination.
Currency and tax, your way
Type the three-letter code of the currency you invoice in, such as EUR, USD, INR or AED, and the tax rate for each line. Nothing is assumed about your country. Amounts are formatted for the language of this page and rounded to the currency's smallest unit.
How the totals are calculated
Each line is the quantity times the unit price. A discount comes off the subtotal and is shared across the tax rates in proportion, then the tax is calculated for each rate on what remains. Check the result against your local invoicing rules before you send it.
Frequently asked questions
Is this a legally valid invoice?
Requirements differ by country: some need a tax number, sequential numbering, specific wording or electronic invoicing. The generator gives you the fields most invoices need, but you are responsible for what your local rules require.
Where is my data stored?
Only in this browser tab; nothing is sent to a server. If you tick Remember my company details, your business details, currency and payment details are kept in this browser's local storage on this device, and unticking the box deletes them.
Does it work in my language and script?
Yes. The invoice uses the language of this page, and names, addresses and descriptions in any script, including Arabic and Devanagari, print correctly because your browser lays out the PDF.
