How to remove duplicate rows

  1. Paste or open the CSV

Paste data with a header row or open a .csv file.

  2. Pick the columns to compare

Leave All columns on to remove exact copies, or pick columns such as email to find the same person twice.

  3. Download the clean file

The first occurrence of each row is kept. Download the result as CSV.

Duplicates that aren't exact copies

The same customer often appears twice with a different date or note. Comparing only the email or customer number column finds those rows too, while the rest of the row is kept from the first occurrence.

Case and spaces

“Ada@Example.com ” and “ada@example.com” look different to a computer. Ignoring case and the spaces around values catches them as duplicates.

Frequently asked questions

Which row is kept?

The first one. Later rows with the same values in the compared columns are removed, and the order of the remaining rows doesn't change.

What is the difference from Remove Duplicate Lines?

Remove Duplicate Lines compares whole lines of text. This tool understands columns, so it can compare only some of them and handles quoted values correctly.

Is my file uploaded?
